New Delhi
Jerusalem Mar Thoma Church was founded in 1982 and is situated at Safdarjung Enclave, adjacent to Ring Road, in the south Delhi area of the capital of India. The worship sanctuary of almost 400 families with nearly 1700 members, the church owes its ecclesiastical allegiance to the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, tracing its origins to the faith founded by Saint Thomas (Mar Thoma), one of the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ who came to Kerala in AD 52.
The Church defines itself as "Apostolic in origin, Universal in nature, Biblical in faith, Evangelical in principle, Ecumenical in outlook, Oriental in worship, Democratic in function, and Episcopal in character."
